It seems like every celebrity out there has their own perfume or fragrance these days. I don’t know if it’s that they think they have something unique to offer the world, or if it’s just an ego boost to capture their “signature scent.” Just make sure that if you plan to purchase a celebrity fragrance, that you pay for the quality of the perfume and not just the celebrity name attached.

Make sure any fragrance you buy compliments your body chemistry. Just because it smells great on J. Lo doesn’t mean it will suit you as well. Jennifer Lopez has had so much success with her fragrances that she has produced a number of them. Still, Glow, Live and Deseo are just a few. Celine Dion is another celebrity who has done very well producing and marketing a fragrance by her own name. Britney Spears’ Curious has also been quite popular as well along with Midnight Fantasy, Believe, and Fantasy.

One of the newest perfumes on the market that has become increasingly well-liked is Sean John’s Unforgivable.

It’s not often that a man can come up with a fragrance that appeals to women as well. Mariah Carey has two fragrances available, but M is preferred over Luscious Pink. Intimately Beckham for Women by David and Victoria Beckham is a pretty hot floral fragrance that has gained popularity over the past year.

Younger girls have gone crazy over Hilary Duff’s With Love perfume. It’s very girly and feminine. Paris Hilton has also released a number of fragrances, but it all began with her signature scent aptly named, Paris Hilton. Heiress and Can Can are also extremely trendy. For the edgier, punk rocker chick, Gwen Stefani does not disappoint with her L Lamb and Harajuku Lovers.

Probably the absolute number one top selling celebrity perfume is Lovely, by Sarah Jessica Parker.

The name just says it all — positively lovely. SJP followed that up with another popular perfume, Covet.

Of course, there are plenty of perfumes that are absolutely timeless. They will never go out of style. Celebrities come and go; popularity fades, but Chanel lives on forever! Estee Lauder has been a top seller of fragrances since the 1950s! Givenchy by Michael Hy has also been around for decades. Amor Amor by the Design House of Cacharel has only been around since 2003, but is a top seller nonetheless.

It seems that many of the top fragrances are floral in nature, but many include notes of musks, woods, fruits, or spice. Your fragrances may change as you age and depending on the time of day (or month!), your mood, or the event that you are attending, but choosing a “signature scent” is a big decision. When there’s no special occasion, this will be you. Your fragrance. If it’s with the help of a celebrity, great! If it’s a timeless selection that always in style, fantastic! Just make sure that whatever fragrance it is, you love it and it loves you.

However, we are more than just an online fragrance etailer. Recently, there has been an increasing buzz of discontentment among purchasers of perfumes and fragrances. Many are unhappy about the increasing unavailability of .05 oz. vials of free fragrance samples. They have become more and more difficult to acquire. Further, there is a growing dissatisfaction with the overly utilized fragrance sampling method implemented at many brick and mortar perfume counters.

It is common knowledge that department stores are where fragrances are most commonly sampled and purchased.  At www.samplethefragrance.com , we boldly declare that department stores’ fragrance counters are not the ideal environment for sampling fragrances. Here is why.

On approach to a typical department store fragrance counter, one becomes overwhelmed by the heavily fused odor of many different fragrances that permeate the air. One’s sense of smell becomes tainted by the smorgasbord of various scents. Under such conditions, it is difficult to grasp the true bouquet of a fragrance under consideration for purchase.

Then, one’s fragrance selection is sprayed onto a thin strip of paper from which one is expected to sniff.  It begs the question. Would sniffing the fragrance on a sniffer strip give the sniffer reasonable feedback to base a purchase decision? We think not.

The only true way to sample a fragrance is to apply it onto the body. Wear it at the time of day the fragrance manufacturer suggests. Sample it for at least one week before making a determination whether or not the fragrance is right for you.

In order to perform these necessary pre-purchase tests, a fragrance sample of sufficient quantity should be readily available. The sample scent should be used exclusively and consistently during the test period.

Here are a few questions that should be answered before making a fragrance purchase selection. Is there a harmony between your body’s chemistry and the fragrance? What comments do your friends and family make about the new fragrance when it is worn? Is the fragrance long lasting? Did it enhance your attitude in some meaningful way? Is it all you expected it to be and more? In your opinion, is the fragrance worth the asking purchase price?  Those and other personal factors should be considered as a part of the fragrance purchasing decision process.

Now here is a major part of the problem. Acquiring fragrance samples from department stores and other fragrance outlets have become increasingly difficult. Fragrance counter representatives inform that fragrance samples are in short supply. They too complain that manufacturers provide fewer samples than they have in the past. Consequently, there are increasingly fewer free fragrance samples to be offered.

The short supply of free fragrance samples has given rise to the sale of these .05 fluid oz. vials of scents. Evidence of this can be found in the growing number of etailers who offer fragrance samples for sale online. That too begs the question. If fragrance samples are in such short supply at popular fragrance counters, then where are etailers getting the fragrance samples they offer for sale online? Are the samples they offer for sale authentic?

We believe the sale of fragrance samples in any form is unethical and constitutes an act of immorality. The free fragrance sample concept was created to allow fragrance lovers to sample scents free of charge. The idea is to encourage would be purchasers to sample a fragrance free of charge, be captured by its aroma and enticed to purchase a regular sized container at full price. This fragrance sampling model however appears to be in jeopardy today.

If the availability of free fragrance samples decline but the sale of these samples persist and increase, individual product lines and the entire perfume and fragrance industry could be negatively impacted.

At Sample The Fragrance we want to encourage manufacturers or those responsible for the shortages of supply, to continue making samples available free of charge and in greater quantities. Also we will persuade manufacturers to impose measures to discourage the sale of fragrance samples.

There are many other women celebrity fragrances that I didn’t mention in this article that are very pleasing. As I stated earlier, this list is based on sales and reviews of the celebrities’ fragrances. Nevertheless, in my opinion there are no top fragrances because it all depends on the lifestyle your living and your own personal opinion. The next fragrance is a designer fragrance is one of the most popular this year. I would encourage all women to try this exotic scent.
